In this work, a Chinese-Canadians who was educated in Canadian history reads aloud the following two influential stories about the culture of remembrance regarding East Asian World War II history.

The first book, “The Rape of Nanking” by Iris Chang, is about the atrocities committed by the Japanese Army during the Nanjing Massacre (1937) in China. The second book, “The Complete Story of Sadako Sasaki” by SASAKI Masahiro, is about a girl who died of leukemia caused by radiation from the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

The work is part of the exhibition project “They are Lying”, which focuses on the political conflicts arising from the historical perceptions of East Asian countries.
