In this video installation, a Korean who grew up in Germany and one who grew up in Korea, a half-Japanese who grew up in Germany and a Japanese who grew up in Japan talk about the history of Japanese colonial rule in Korea (1910—1945), World War II in Asia and the recently intensifying political conflict about them between Japan and South Korea.

 

Educations and surroundings strongly influence how we understand history. These Asian Germans are free from the Japanese and Korean nationalism, and their German historical education would allow them to view the Asian history in a different light.
